Cornbread Recipe with Afghan Style, Afghan Rote

Description

A mouthwatering Afghan cornbread recipe.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Cup Milk

  • 4 Eggs

  • 1/4 Teaspoon Salt

  • 1 1/4 Cup Sugar

  • 1 1/2 Cup Oil

  • 1 Tablespoon Cardamom Powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 2 cups of maize flour

  • 1 1/2 cup All Purpose flour

  • Sesame seeds (for topping

  • Nigella seeds (for topping)


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 360°F
  2. Crack eggs and whisk
  3. Add milk, whisk more.
  4. Add your dry ingredients one by one and slowly incorporate them 
  5. Place parchment paper into a 9×16 or 9×13 cake pan.
  6. Pour mixture into pan and sprinkle with nigella and sesame seeds.
  7. Bake at 360 degrees for 40-45 minutes. Note that this is oven-sensitive, so bake until golden brown on top and a toothpick comes out clean.
