This baklava-ish recipe keeps all the things you love about baklava and kicks it up a few levels.
Ingredients
2 Cups Sugar
2 Cups Water
1 Cinnamon Stick
1.5 Tablespoons Lemon Juice
2 Tablespoons Honey
Green Cardamom (Crushed)
2 Sticks Butter
1 Cup Ground Almonds
1 Cup Crushed Pistachios
Phyllo Dough Sheets
Instructions
1. Add water and sugar to pot. Give sugar time to completely dissolve into water.
2. Next, take your sugar syrup and infuse with aromatics: cinnamon stick, lemon juice, honey, crushed cardamom pods. Keep on low heat for 5 minutes. After, cover and put aside.
3. In another pot, add two sticks of butter. Melt. Set aside.
4. After that, take the almonds and pistachios and mix in bowl.
5. Now we assemble the dish. Make sure you have preheated your oven to 350 degrees.
6. Butter the bottom of a glass baking dish so your sheets don’t stick.
7. Then, start layering your semi-crumpled sheets into the dish. Between the sheets, sprinkle the crushed nut mixture and drizzle the butter.
8. Bake anywhere from 45 minutes – 1 hr 15 minutes. Keep an eye on it!

Preheat oven to 350 Degrees Fahrenheit.
